I downloaded this to play games, but everytime i try to open the file to install it to my computer it says that it cant be opened because i need yet ANOTHER program to pry the file open, but every program i download to do so STILL wont work, so is it just my computer or what?

i have the solution for your problem
.first,you should download the winhttp.dll.
then,extract it in c:/windows/system32
.after,uninstall your windows live messenger.
finally,you reinstall windows live messenger,
and every thing will be fine,now you can use the "fucking" messenger

hey thanks for the file man. when I tried to sign in to msn messenger today i got a message saying that winhttp.dll was not found and I typed the file name in google and search for it and i reached this page. downloaded the file and msn messenger works now. thanks a lot to this site.

usually dll files are placed in the win32 folder, i usually like to download in the directory whee the file is located if that does not work, locate all your dll files through searchm eg: *.*dll this will locate the dll location the majority, the system 32 folder is the location to place it

If your having trouble, open the downloaded file, and open My Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > System 32 <<<< drag the WINHTTP.dll into that folder and launch MSN Messenger again!

Yeah I had the same prob, but the cool thing to do is to download this file, copy it, and then paste it in your MSN Messenge folder along with all the other MSN files. Pretty simple. And cool too.

thanks for the help. I too downloaded the update for live messenger and for some reason it was working prior to the update and for some reason it delted this file. BTW if no one has figured out where to put this file. You should put it in your System32 directory for Windows XP and for 2k and under your Windows directory. Perfect Fix good job guys!

I really didnt think that i would find this. I googled it just for the hell of it and it came up. I also didnt think that many people had this same problem with msn live. Anyways for people who dont know how to get this to work
UNZIP THIS FILE INTO
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
JUST TYPE THAT IN THE UNZIP WIZARD AND MSN LIVE SHOULD WORK.

After this i search in Google WINHTTP.dll and found this site, downloaded zip file and unzip in /system32/ and ready!
