I'd like someone to comment on Adama's comment on 2010-01-17 about the GDIPLUS.DLL, GDIPLUS.MAN and GDIPLUS.CAT files from Microsoft's Platform SDK Redistribution package. I'd like a procedure and explaination of what Adams asked, since Microsoft and Adobe can't exlain, it's up to community to help.

Platform SDK Redistributable: GDI+ download at Microsoft has files that solve Shockwave problems as suggeted by a technote from Adobe. The executable package does not install to a preset location. The user chooses a location and thats it. What you see is a parent folder ASMS and IDW. Every folder has an interesting name ASMS, 10, MSFT, WIndows, Policy then GDIPLUS which is duplicated in another folder. Other folders like IDW, Srvpack and Hotfix. The executable did nothing about auto installing and Microsoft and Adobe did not provide a clue where to install and which files like GDIPLUS.DLL, GDIPLUS.MAN and GDIPLUS.CAT which are duplicated.
So, out in the net there are suggestions to copy GDIPLUS.DLL to different locations in SYSTEM32 but no clues about GDIPLUS.MAN and GDIPLUS.CAT or any clue if the author noticed the duplicate files and what to do with GDIPLUS.MAN and GDIPLUS.CAT. Would appriciate any help that privides a starting point from Microsoft download, explaination about this file structure, purpose and location to copy to, a common solution that would solve the application and web player problems associated with the files GDIPLUS.DLL, GDIPLUS.MAN and GDIPLUS.cat. Thank you.

hi you reinstalled Ubuntu and when you downloaded the dll file to get PNG JPG GIF PCX etc to work it downloaded and when you double click ZIP file and extracted dll it worked for you when you save it as in MS Paint

I couldn't go to the C direcotry. It automatically restart many times and never ending. So I copied the DLL file to this directory: I386ASMS1000MSFTWINDOWSGDIPLUS of the CD by replacing the original one. Then burn it again into new CD, but I got the same problem. How can I fix it?

Since version 5.1.0.488 inSpeak works fine again with Windows2000 and gdiplus.dll in folder system32.

To have the keyword here (hello Google!): gdiplus.dll is - though not documented - required by Eudora 7 under Windows; since Windows versions prior to XP don´t have it on board, you have to install it by yourself, e.g. from here. Thanks.
